G+J Russia: GALA BIOGRAFIA Whets Readers´ Curiosity
Hamburg, November 1, 2004
Gruner + Jahr has added another
member to its international GALA family. Today marks the launch
of GALA BIOGRAFIA in Russia, an innovative, upscale people magazine.
GALA BIOGRAFIA, published monthly in the fresh new premium pocket
format, reports on show stars and celebrities with exciting
biographies. The magazine caters specifically to young urban women
with an upscale lifestyle, and not only features impressive
photographs, but also much more detailed texts than the regular
Russian GALA magazine. Sophia Loren and Mata Hari are the stars
portrayed in the premier issue. GALA BIOGRAFIA is being issued in
a print run of 150,000 copies and at an introductory cover price
of approximately 1 euro. Its editor-in-chief is Nadeshda Borozdina,
previously deputy editor-in-chief of GALA.
GALA BIOGRAFIA is the sixth title in G+J Russia´s portfolio, which
already comprises GEO, GEOLENOK, GEOFOCUS, GEO TRAVELLER and GALA.
Dr. Torsten-Jörn Klein, G+J executive board member in charge of
International Magazines, comments: "Our GEO group dominates the
Russian pop-sci magazine segment with an over 60 percent market
share. By introducing GALA BIOGRAFIA as a more text-driven second
title, we are striving for a leading position in the people segment
as well, providing a foundation for continued growth in Russia."
