G + J Launches QUEST, Holland´s Newest Popular-Science Magazine
Hamburg, February 18, 2004 With tomorrow´s launch of the new popular-science monthly QUEST, Gruner + Jahr further
extends its market leadership in Holland´s pop-sci magazine sector. Since entering the Dutch market two years ago with
NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC, Gruner + Jahr has already reached the profit zone in the Netherlands and is on an
expansionist course with new titles. The first issue of QUEST will be published in a print run of 150,000 copies.
QUEST caters to men and women between the ages of 20 and 49 years, offering them an entertaining approach to
popular-science questions involving nature, technology, health, psychology and history.
QUEST presents exciting photos and lavish illustrations and info diagrams using contemporary language in an up-to-date layout.
The concept behind the new popular-science magazine QUEST is based on an international brand family centering on the
popular popular-science magazine FOCUS, which in Italy is the best-selling monthly with average circulation of over
750,000 copies, and has spawned the new formats FOCUS JUNIOR in its home market, FOCUS in Poland and GEOFOCUS in Russia.
QUEST is also modeled on the Spanish format MUY INTERESANTE, which also leads the popular-science sector in the in Spanish
magazines market.
Dr. Torsten-Jörn Klein, executive board member in charge of International Magazines division at Gruner + Jahr:
"With ´Quest´ we introduce a refreshingly new format to Holland, and continue our international innovation campaign
with yet another attractive title."
