itself from July 2007, i.e. by the Portuguese imprint Allmedia,
a G+J subsidiary. The content of MUY INTERESANTE and SUPER INTERESSANTE

Gruner + Jahr has signed a licensing agreement with Ringier Axel Springer Media AG, a joint venture of Axel Springer AG and Schweizer Ringier AG, to publish its international reportage magazine GEO in the three Eastern European countries of Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. At the same time, the Romanian edition of GEO will be discontinued due to the difficult economic situation in the country. ...more

The reportage magazine GEO is launching a GEO iPad selection based on its English-language edition – a monthly selection of three reports from the current international print magazine in a multimedia format for the Apple iPad. The first issue will appear in early July and is priced at 2.49 EUR in the AppStore. The application was developed by G+J International Brands and Licenses in cooperation with the software vendor Mobilinga GmbH of Bremen. ...more

GALA makes its debut in Kuwait with the June issue and therewith continues its internationalization. After launches in Syria and Lebanon last year, this is the third edition of the international celebrity and lifestyle magazine published under license in the rapidly growing Middle East region. Peter Pelinka, the renowned journalist, experienced editor and former editor-in-chief of FORMAT, is taking the editorial helm at NEWS, Austria's biggest news magazine. Pelinka will be supported by deputy chief editors Corinna Milborn and Silvia Meister. Pelinka already worked successfully with Corinna Milborn, a political journalist and "Club2" moderator, on FORMAT. They will both set new priorities and a new tone in the first half of the issue, especially regarding domestic politics, business, and features.

In front of a capacity crowd of 1.000 top magazine professionals during the annual Mercur Magazine Awards Gala Quest received the Mercur award for ‘ Magazine Of The Year'. The entire editorial team of 30 climbed the stage when the winner was announced. ‘And then there were just eight of us in the beginning', says Karlijn van Overbeek, Editor-in-Chief. ‘Circulation has steadily increased since the launch in 2004. Martin Trautmann (41) has been appointed Executive Vice President of Prisma Presse. In his new role, he will supervise the Business and Science (Économie / Découverte) division of G+J's French publishing arm. From January, this puts him in charge of the GEO, CAPITAL, ÇA M'INTÉRESSE, NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC and MANAGEMENT magazines and websites.

As part of the strategic realignment of its international activities, Gruner + Jahr has sold its Russian operations to Axel Springer AG. The takeover of G+J Russia (OOO G+J Magazines) will become effective on December, 1 2009. The magazines GEO, GEOLenok, GEOTraveller and GALA Biografia and the www.geo.ru, www.moiroditeli.ru and www.moizvezdi.ru websites will be continued by Axel Springer Russia, a wholly owned subsidiary of Axel Springer, under license.

As part of grouping Gruner + Jahr's international activities under the management of Dr. Torsten-Jörn Klein, G+J International has made some personnel adjustments: Bernd Rademann, 42, will assume the role of COO and Executive Vice President, G+J International with effect from January 1, 2010. He currently serves as CEO of Adria Media Serbia, a joint venture between Sanoma Magazines International, Styria Media and Gruner + Jahr.
