Environmental guidelines - Modern environmental management with a long tradition
Gruner + Jahr´s Executive Board approved an environmental concept as far back as 1991. The first environmental report was published in 1992. A year later, the company´s implementation of its environmental concept won the environment prize awarded by the Federal German Working Committee for Environment Conscious Management (B.A.U.M.). Since then it has constantly been refining its environmental strategy. G+J observes the following guidelines in its ecological policy: raw materials are used ecologically and efficiently; waste is avoided and recycling is constantly being improved; ecological awareness is promoted through intensive communication with customers, suppliers and staff; all members of staff are expected to act in an environmentally conscious way as part of their identity as journalists and entrepreneurs.
Since 2005 the environmental report is part of the Corporate Responsibility report and published within the G+J annual report.
Gruner + Jahr's environment policy is based on the following guidelines:
Acknowledgement of more responsibility for the environment
We recommend all members of our staff to act in an environmentally conscious way on the grounds of journalistic logic and entrepreneurial responsibility.
Efficient, ecology-conscious use of raw materials
Gruner + Jahr, together with its suppliers, supports environmentally-compatible methods of obtaining and processing raw materials.
Optimal use of resources
It is our policy to ensure that the manufacture of our products pollutes the environment as little as possible. Procedures for careful use of resources, waste avoidance and recycling are constantly being improved.
Promotion of environmental communication
We seek to promote ecological awareness through intensive communication with customers, suppliers and staff.
