G+J has done business in Poland since 1993 and has led the women's magazine market since 2002 with titles like CLAUDIA, GALA, GLAMOUR and NAJ. In all, G+J publishes 15 magazines in this Eastern European country, including NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC and the popular-science magazine FOCUS. 2004 was an exceedingly successful year for G+J Poland: Gruner + Jahr took the lead in the Polish ad market among popular magazines. The publisher won two important awards in a single year: The women's magazine GLAMOUR was declared Launch of the Year by the trade publication "Media i Marketing," and the country's biggest wholesaler Ruch named G+J Poland the "Publisher of the Year."

In 2005, an innovative title was launched for 25- to 49-year-old women and men interested in psychology, under the heading "FENIKS - Nowe strony zycia" ("Phoenix - new sides of life"). FENIKS offers G+J's readers guidance in the search for self-help and spirituality in everyday life. The editorial concept behind FENIKS opens up a sub-segment that did not exist on the Polish magazine market before.
