With over 500 magazines and newspapers in thirty countries, about 13,300 employees, and a turnover of around 2.55 billion Euro in the financial year 2010, Gruner + Jahr AG & Co KG is Europe's largest magazine publisher. The operating EBIT in 2010 was 287 million Euro. Bertelsmann AG owns 74.9% of Gruner + Jahr, while the remaining 25.1% is owned by the publisher family Jahr from Hamburg. The company is based in Hamburg. With a share of 54% of the overall turnover, Gruner + Jahr is one of the world's most international magazine publishing houses.

The most important foreign holding of G+J is Prisma Média in Paris. Prisma Média is also 100% owned by G+J and has become the second-largest magazine publishing company in France. In addition, Gruner + Jahr has international holdings in Spain, Poland, Austria, the Netherlands, China, Italy as well as Croatia, Slovania and Serbia. G+J also operates numerous publishing offices around the globe.
